A 5-day devotional series based on Ephesians 2:4-10 and the sermon from Fremont Community Church.
Day 1: Rich in Mercy
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved." - Ephesians 2:4-5
God's mercy is not a temporary mood or a reluctant pardon; it is His very nature. When God extends mercy to you, He is simply acting like Himself. He didn't wait for you to clean up your life, sort out your doubts, or earn His approval. While you were still spiritually dead, He crossed the divide to pour out His life-giving love upon you.
Reflection: Are you still trying to prove yourself worthy of God's love, or have you rested in the truth that He met you in your mess?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that Your mercy triumphs over judgment. Quiet every voice of condemnation and remind me of Your lavish, unconditional love today. Amen.
Day 2: Seated in Heavenly Places
"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus..." - Ephesians 2:6
When Christ stepped out of the grave and ascended to the right hand of the Father, your story was bound to His. Because you are in Christ, you no longer live under the oppressive weight of fear, anxiety, or worldly defeat. You are seated with Him above the chaos, called to view your daily circumstances from the perspective of His finished victory.
Reflection: How does knowing you are seated with Christ change how you look at the challenges facing you this week?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, lift my eyes from the struggles around me to the throne where You reign. Help me walk with the confidence of someone whose life is hidden safely with You. Amen.
Day 3: The Crown of His Grace
"...in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus." - Ephesians 2:7
"You will be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, a royal diadem in the hand of your God." - Isaiah 62:3
God does not hide His redeemed people away in a closet. He delights in you like a royal crown or a diamond ring, demonstrating to the entire universe what His transforming grace can do. When God takes our brokenness and restores us to life, our transformed lives become a living billboard of His goodness and power.
Reflection: How is God's grace in your life currently pointing others toward His goodness?
Prayer: Father, thank You for taking my brokenness and turning it into a testimony of Your grace. Let my life reflect Your beauty and kindness to everyone I meet. Amen.
Day 4: The Gift of Trust
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9
Grace is unearned and unearnable favor. We cannot buy it, achieve it, or work our way into it. Faith is simply trusting God enough to stop trying to catch ourselves in our own strength. Like stepping onto a ladder you cannot fully see in the dark, faith means letting go of self-reliance and leaning entirely on the trustworthiness of God's character.
Reflection: Where is God asking you to step out in trust, even when you don't have all the answers or control?
Prayer: Jesus, forgive me for my attempts to save myself. Teach me to trust You more deeply today, surrendering my plans into Your faithful hands. Amen.
Day 5: Handiwork Prepared for Good
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2:10
You are not an accident. You are God's masterwork, designed with intentionality and animated by an unstoppable purpose. Good works do not save us, but they are the natural overflow of a heart transformed by grace. God has prepared specific moments, conversations, and acts of love for you to step into each day as you walk with Him.
Reflection: What good work or act of service has God placed in your path right now that requires your obedience?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, align my heart and actions with Your divine purpose. Use my hands, my words, and my life to bring Your hope and love to the world around me. Amen.
