The Presence of the Living God
A 5-Day Devotional from fremontcommunity.org
Day 1: A Willing Heart
You don't have to be the most "charismatic" or exuberant person to receive the Holy Spirit. Pentecost reminds us that the gift is for everyone-the shy, the bold, the young, and the old. God isn't looking for a perfect performance; He is looking for a willing heart. Today, simply anchor yourself and breathe in the breath of the living God.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, I open my heart to You today. Come like a gentle rain and refresh my soul.
Day 2: Relentless Love
We often think we are the ones chasing God, but the truth is He is chasing us. Even when we turn away or feel our faith eroding under the pressure of the world, His goodness is running after us. You were made for more than shame or brokenness; you were made for a future worth living.
Prayer: Father, thank You for chasing me. Help me to stop running and simply rest in Your goodness.
Day 3: Learning to Delight
Church isn't about checking a box or fulfilling a religious duty. It's about intimacy. God invites us to move past the boundaries and distractions of daily life to a place where we truly delight in Him. This takes time and intentionality, but the reward is being "wrecked" by His incredible goodness.
Prayer: Lord, teach me how to delight in You today. Help me to find joy in Your presence above all else.
Day 4: You Are the Temple
In the Old Testament, God's glory was hidden behind a thick veil. At Pentecost, that fire moved from the Temple into human hearts. Because of the blood of Jesus, you are now the dwelling place of the Most High. You carry His presence into your workplace, your home, and your community.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for making me Your temple. May Your glory be visible in everything I do today.
Day 5: No Record of Wrongs
Perfect love casts out fear. When we look at 1 Corinthians 13, we see a description of God Himself. He is patient, He is kind, and He does not remember your failures once they are forgiven. Today, leave your past at the altar. Walk in the freedom of a clean slate and the power of a new beginning.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, mark me for Your presence. Let me live as someone who is truly forgiven and free.
