He has Shown You What is Good

Feb 1, 2026    Pastor Josh Hawkins

This powerful message takes us deep into Micah 6, where God calls the mountains themselves to witness His case against Israel. It's a stunning courtroom scene where the Creator asks His people a piercing question: 'What have I done to you?' After delivering them from slavery, establishing them in the promised land, and faithfully providing for them, God finds His people turning away. Their response reveals something profound about human nature—we immediately try to fix our broken relationship with elaborate religious performances. Should we bring thousands of rams? Rivers of olive oil? Even our firstborn children? But God's answer cuts through all our religious posturing with breathtaking simplicity: act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God. This isn't about flashy displays or extravagant sacrifices. It's about the heart. We discover that what God has always wanted is a people who reflect His character—who pursue justice because He is just, who extend mercy because He is merciful, and who walk in humble relationship with Him. This same call echoes through Jesus' teaching about the greatest commandments: love God completely and love others as yourself. The beauty is that God isn't asking us to build pyramids or adorn churches with gold. He's inviting us into the treasure of relationship—with Him and with every person we encounter. This is what we were created for, and through Christ's work on the cross, the power of sin that kept us from this life has been broken.
